Dean Cook
Dean Cook is a performing songwriter, storyteller, and sometimes cowboy poet. A native Arizonan, he incorporates his life experiences into his songs, stories, and poems about Arizona and the West. Dean appears regularly at cowboy poetry, storytelling, and music gatherings, folk music festivals, historic events, and resorts, and has performed in venues ranging from the Festival of the West and the Grand Canyon Railroad to a river running camp on the Colorado River, as well as folk festivals and cowboy gatherings throughout Arizona. Most recently, he conducted a songwriting workshop at a cowboy song camp in Winthrop, Washington His songs are being performed by western and folk artists all around the country, and several have been recorded by other artists (most recently by Marshall Trimble, Arizonas Official Historian, and performers Buckshot Dot, Sue Harris, and Alan Halvorson). . In 2005 he received the Arizona Culturekeepers Award for his contribution to preserving and promoting Arizona folklore. ...a subtle, understated knockout punch.
