Jo Lynne Kirkwood

Jo Lynne grew up in Northern Arizona, working land that had been originally settled by her great-grandfather. She now lives with her family in Sevier County, Utah. Her poems have received numerous awards, and many have been published in western magazines and anthologies. Several of her songs have been recorded by western musicians. Jo Lynne also coordinates Utah's youth poets, and has worked with gatherings and organizations in Utah and elsewhere to promote the history, heritage, folklore and arts of the western lifestyle. Currently, she is the 2010 President-elect of Cowboy Poets of Utah and was named Top Female Poet 2009 by the Academy of Western Artists. Jo Lynne lives in central Utah with my husband and four kids. She also teaches English and art, and is the debate coach at North Sevier High School. Jo Lynne has stated,"I am proud to work in a genre that has this broad an appeal. Cowboy poetry, anything about the cowboy era, really is one of the few art forms that can be considered as authentically American, and I am all for preserving the culture and celebrating this particular true poetic art form."
